Lake Baringo - a Paradise for a lot of Animals
Lake Baringo is almost 285 km in the northnorthwest of the capital Nairobi in the Baringo District in the Rift Valley Province in the half-graben basin.

The name "Baringo" comes from the word „Mparingo“, which means "lake" in the language of the Ilchamus (tribe) who are living next to the lake.

While all other lakes of the half-graben basin are saltwater lakes, the Lake Baringo is a fresh water lake with many kinds of fish. The most famous fish is called
„Tilapia“.

In the lake there are a lot of crocodiles and hippos.

Also there are plenty of different kinds of birds.

There are many singing birds.

Also the sea eagles are living here.
